Nitya (níh-tya) Jain is an Austin & Bay Area-based photographer and tabletop director specializing in stills and stop-motion for food, beverage, cookbooks, and hospitality.
A background in architecture and graphic design has shaped how she weaves light, texture, and space into visual stories unique to each client.
She works locally in Austin, San Francisco, and the Bay Area, and travels for projects — partnering with brands, agencies, and dreamers on advertising, packaging, retail, and social campaigns.
Shoot days are long, and the energy on projects, big or small, is palpable! Nitya works with the client and her creative crew of choice wherever she can: stylists, digitechs, and assistants she has collaborated with for years to ensure everyone walks away happy and tired at the end of the day. The shot list can be seventeen cocktails in two days, but you can have fun along the way.
Her love of food and color goes back to her South Asian roots: born in India, she grew up in a multigenerational home where the early-morning wake-up call was a cup of hot cardamom chai while sauces and spices simmered for all the meals to follow. It was all about gathering people around a table over a shared experience of food and stories.
Off the clock, she’s usually out on walks with her pup, Gia, cooking up a storm to Hans Zimmer, or traveling with her family.
